Unrestricted Commissions

Fromm Music Foundation - Next deadline: June 1, 2004. Housed at Harvard University. Funds the commissioning of works of all genres. Open to all composers, both emerging and established. Annual deadline.

Barlow Endowment General Commissions - Next deadline: June 1, 2004. Available to composers or performing groups desiring collaboration for significant new musical works. Restricted Commissions

Barlow Prize - Next deadline: June 1, 2004. Annual award in which composers compete for a substantial commission (up to $20,000) to be premiered by a consortium of performing groups upon completion. No restrictions regarding musical style, nationality, age, gender, race, religion, or political persuasion. Emphasis of the Barlow Prize alternates each year among various media including choral, large and small chamber, orchestral music, and others. 2004 emphasis: Not yet announced.

Barlow Endowment LDS Composer Commissions - Next deadline: June 1, 2004. Available to composers belonging to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) or other composers who are willing to engage LDS subject matter.
